Proposed Orders to Chambers:
Magistrate Judge Gray M. Borden Judge Borden was sworn in as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Alabama in June 2019 after holding the same position in the Middle District of Alabama since October 2015. Immediately prior to taking the bench, Judge Borden served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Middle District, where he prosecuted white-collar crimes and organizational-level drug trafficking. Before his transition to government service, Judge Borden was in private practice at a litigation boutique in Birmingham, primarily handling commercial litigation and products liability disputes. Judge Borden’s most recent appointment brings him full circle as he began his legal career in the Northern District as a law clerk to Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Acker, Jr.
Judge Borden is a magna cum laude graduate of The University of Alabama School of Law. He was the editor-in-chief of the Alabama Law Review during his third year in law school and has returned to campus every year since 2018 to teach an advanced-level course on white-collar investigations as an Adjunct Professor of Law. Before law school, Judge Borden graduated from Washington and Lee University with a B.S. in business administration.
